About Me

My name is Zach and I’m a college student attending Case Western Reserve University. When I’m not at school, I live in the DC-Metro area. I have limited free time at school, so I can really only work over summers and briefly during winters (see updates on the home page). While my mobile lifestyle makes owning a layout impractical, I enjoy running my equipment on the Northern Virginia Model Railroaders club layout and the occasional Free-mo setup. Of particular interest to me is unique and streamlined passenger equipment, and my southern heritage and college experience in Cleveland have drawn me to Seaboard Air Line and New York Central respectively.

I was first introduced to model railroading as a serious hobby in 2013. Having grown up on LEGO (which I still enjoy), I was quick to try out kits building and kitbashing models. After leaning about 3D printing through my high school’s robotics program in 2016, I came to the conclusion that this technology could replace traditional kitbashing and scratchbuilding techniques entirely.

That’s what sets me apart from other model railroad 3D printing businesses. There are plenty of people selling printed detail parts, cabs, and car sides. But why not take it a step further? For years, modelers have said the technology isn’t ready yet, but a quick look around this site will prove otherwise. In the near future, I imagine individuals and small companies manufacturing their own runs of small unique models, and modelers having not having to wait years for preorders on plastic models (*cough cough Rapido cough*) or paying thousands of dollars for for brass. If some high school kid could figure it out five years ago, so can you!
