W&OD 70 Series Interurbans – S scale

S scale is a bit of a challenge for 3D printers; Most models are too large to fit on high -detail SLA/DLP/resin printers, while larger FDM printers can rarely capture an adequate amount of detail. As a result, when working on these 70-series interurbans from the Washington and Old Dominion Railroad, I tried to play to the strengths and weaknesses of each printing technology by printing this model in many different parts. The car is built around a core of FDM printed parts with Resin sides, ends, and details. In the download, I have sorted the files into those I recommend printing with resin and those I recommend printing with FDM, but if you only have access to one type of printer, you should be able to print all of the parts with either technology. However, you will have to sacrifice detail if you only have an FDM printer and you might have to split some parts in two to fit them in most resin printers. Also included in the download is a .step file of the assembled car, which can be viewed in most solid-body CAD programs. Simply click the Purchase button below to add the file to your cart, then checkout to download a zipped folder containing all of the above mentioned parts.
